Onorm Standards
The Österreichisches Normungsinstitut (ON) is a public-service, non-profit organization founded in 1920. It is an impartial platform for the creation of standards and specifications in Austria and offers the infrastructure for participation in European and international standardization (CEN and ISO).
ON is therefore a centre of competence for all information pertaining to standards and their environment, which facilitates direct access to the more than 17 900 Austrian standards (ONORMEN) - including all European Standards - to all International Standards and to over 600 000 normative documents from throughout the world. In some 180 Technical Committees, with about 350 Subcommittees and Working Groups, work some 5 000 experts from companies, authorities, science, consumer groups and inspection bodies.
ON is also industry's partner in certification, especially of products ("ON-CERT") but also of services according to standards ("ON CERTIFIED SERVICE"). Since 1996, ON has been responsible for the worldwide distribution of all publications edited by the CEN Management Centre (CEN Salespoint). In cooperation with partners throughout Europe, ON offers specific training and consulting to non-EU states, thus contributing to the creation of EU-compatible systems in standardization, testing and certification in Eastern Europe.
As first National Standards Body, ON is certified according to ISO 9001:2000 and evaluated to SQS 9004.
